Cranio Sacral Therapy

About Cranio

Cranio is a form of body-oriented therapy that originated from Osteopathy. It was developed by John E. Upledger DO, OMM, osteopathic physician and surgeon.

Our practice has an interdisciplinary view of tension and pain complaints. This means that we examine and treat the entire body in all its facets. Through all kinds of training, we are convinced that we do not speak of symptoms and separate complaints, but of one coherent system. We help people with a story that speaks 'physically'.

We work specifically with the connective tissue (fascia) in your body and the associated adaptive behavior when your connective tissue becomes tense. Connective tissue layers are normally flexible membranes that surround your muscles, organs, tendons and bones. Connective tissue is everywhere in your body and connects everything together. When there is a physical or emotional overload, these membranes become tense.

Your connective tissue is directly connected to your nervous system. Tension at the connective tissue level can cause a wide variety of complaints. The techniques we use for this mainly come from Cranio therapy.

I had never heard of Cranio therapy until I came to Bert. The first exercises gave a strange feeling because it is a certain way of touching, but as this evolved I started to feel the therapy physically and mentally. My head started to listen to my body and my body to my head. I started to find peace in my body. Cranio therapy really got me through it.

After years of incorrect voice use and incorrect breathing, I had already given up hope of improving my voice. But after an examination by an ENT specialist, I wanted to give it one more chance and that is how I ended up with Eline and Bert for Voice Therapy. Eline provided me with various tools to work with at home. With dedication and these tips and tricks, my voice use and sound have improved a lot. I received good follow-up in the practice and Eline showed me when I was using my voice correctly and incorrectly. Bert ensured that my body relaxed through Cranio therapy and that I was given space to use my voice correctly.
